4:00pm Category: Shows[4:30pm] The Maydays present: Happily Never After at Edinburgh Fringe 2017
Description:
A theatrical revolution is happening! The Maydays have been quietly gathering an army of fans around the world with their exceptional talent for creating skin-prickling theatre from nothing. Now they are dazzling audiences with their hugely popular and deliciously dark musical show, Happily Never After. Created from a single audience suggestion, The Maydays weave a playful tale, full of black comedy and haunting songs, in a loose homage to cult director Tim Burton’s gothic style, with influences from Lemony Snicket, the Brothers Grimm and dark fairy tales. After sell-out shows at Edinburgh 2016, Barcelona 2016 and VAULT 2017 Festivals, Happily Never After is a word-of-mouth success that raises the bar on what’s possible with improvised theatre. “Happily Never After is hilarious!” Colin Mochrie (Whose Line is it Anyway?) – Edinburgh Festival 2016 “‘Certainly worthy of Burton” Chortle – VAULT Festival 2017 “As funny as hell” **** Breaking the Fourth Wall – VAULT Festival 2017

There’s fewer better ways to see what spur-of-the-moment comedy London has to offer.” - The Londonist. We have various styles of improv each night including short-form games, scenes, long-form, and improv musicals. After the main shows we also host additional informal late night shows and jams. www.HooplaImpro.com

Category: Shows[9:30pm] Hivemind presents: Stick and Twisted
Description:
Sixty minutes. Three directors. One twisted Hivemind. Three directors compete to win your heart. Taking inspiration from any genre, style, concept, or premise you can imagine, each director devises a story which the rest of Hivemind acts out on the spur of the moment. At the end of each scene, you choose whether to stick, and see where the story goes next, or twist, and let the next director take the reins. The director with the fewest scenes under their belt must pay a terrible forfeit. Stick and Twisted is a brand new approach to improvised comedy from the “imaginative and hilarious” Hivemind. We’ve just completed our debut show run, the gangster noir An Offer You Can’t Refuse, which was a hit with the critics: “Great wit, charm and some genuinely surprising moments” (Everything Theatre) “Inventive, collegiate, and informed” (Reviews Hub) But now, we’re hanging up our gangster hats and exploring a rollercoaster of new possibilities every month. We hope you’ll join us for the ride! Cast and crew Actors: Jack Lawrence, Alex O’Bryan-Tear, Harriet Cartledge, Anton Evans, Ed Elcock Directors/producers: Jack Lawrence, Alex O’Bryan-Tear Lights: Ellie Griffiths Music: Natalie Jobbins, Stephen Gage

“An epic improvised comedy battle. Who wins? You decide!” What happens when two teams of improvisers go head to head to see who can make the audience laugh hardest in the ultimate improvised comedy battle? You get an adrenaline-fuelled comedy show like no other where scenes, sketches and songs based on suggestions provided by the audience are made up right before your eyes. Who wins? You decide! Following sold-out runs at the 2015 and 2016 Camden Fringes, and having received recommendations by Time Out and the London Evening Standard, City Impro bring their “Improv Deathmatch” show back for a special 4 night run for 2017. Four teams will enter, but only one team will emerge as the winner, taking with them glory, admiration (and some small plastic medals!). **** - “Incredibly good” (Voicemag.uk) City Impro have been wowing the London improvised comedy scene since 2013, with the 9 members of the group coming from a wide variety of backgrounds including finance, IT and law.
