[2:00pm] Workshop: Laser Focus - An Introduction To Laser Comedy
Description:
Lasers and comedy together! Come and learn the art of laser comedy from US comedian Chris Fair, creator of The Laser Comedy Show! Laser Comedy consists of using lasers to draw pictures and voice acting as those characters but it’s so much more than that. Chris Fair has been doing comedy for over 13 years, from stand-up to improv and sketch, and for the last 6+ years, he’s been working on his own comedy form using laser reactive technology. He has been a visual artist all his life, is ambidextrous, can write backwards and can take you into brand new worlds he makes up and draws on the spot, however, it doesn’t take all that to make up a simple, funny and heartfelt story about two dots and a semicircle Chris has studied improv, acting and sketch writing at Second City in Chicago, iO Chicago, ComedySportz Chicago and is currently performing group impro at One Group Mind in Chicago. He has performed The Laser Comedy Show all over the United States, once in Canada and this is his first venture into Europe. The first half of this workshop concentrates on visualizing your scene and object work, multitasking verbal and physicality in your scene work and creating a simple visual story. It all leads up to putting your words and actions into a visual story that you create drawing with LASERS! We will continue to work on simple storytelling, creating your own illustrated solo character monologue and two person illustrated character scenes plus a fun surprise exercise at the end. A talent in visual art is not required.

Description:
The Laser Comedy Show is a live improvised comic book created using laser reactive technology drawn and voice acted by US performance artist Chris Fair. The Laser Comedy Show has been performed all over the United States, in Canada and now comes to Europe for the first time! The Nursery presents improvised theatre every week – all completely made up on the spot! Every show features a selection of talented improvisers from across the UK and beyond bringing you some of the most exciting unscripted theatre around. Watch them create everything from short scenes to an entire musical live on stage in front of your eyes! Tonight’s show also features… James and I – James Haskin and James Whittaker are both called James. And they make improvised theatre together. Gentle, wry and funny, the Jameses are just two average guys… until something happens. Ripcord – Featuring some of the most experienced improvisers in London, Ripcord paint a richly detailed place and populate it with fun, funny characters. The show will then spin off to follow the fun wherever it leads – using their bold, theatrical style to create a fluid mix of the strangely familiar and hilariously weird. Swipe Right – A show-size, long-form improv team who perform scenes based on monologues, songs, and other things, too…
