Category: Classes[11:30am] The Maydays Musical Improv Comedy Drop-In
Your Sunday Musical joy ride is here! Two hours of improvising musicals with some of the most experienced teachers on the improv scene. For an audience, it looks like a miracle, for the performer it feels like flying. Starting from a single word, you will be creating scenes that magically lead into complete songs! During these drop in’s, you’ll be introduced to the core skills of melody and lyrics, rhyming and choruses, leading to the ability to create songs on any topic right there. In a supportive and nurturing environment, you’ll see how to fit songs into scenes and perform with flair and commitment. This is a wide ability class, all welcome. Most importantly, there is no need to be able to sing! Every first Sunday of the month, 11.30am-1.30pm – at the Maydays Studio, Brighton. Price: £20 or buy 4 sessions for £70 – booking recommended PLEASE NOTE: Classes are limited to 16 students and no guarantee is made of a place if you do not book. Finally it is back! Improv veteran Alan Marriott is once again running a weekly drop-in improv workshop! This weekly three hour class covers all facets of improv theory and practice including blocking/acceptance and "yes-and" skills, character, status transaction, narrative and storytelling skills, plus every fourth week a class dedicated to musical improv skills. Never-before-seen movies created from audience suggestions that span every era, every style, and every genre, but never with 3D glasses.
