“This place is amazing – it’s like Hogwarts for improvisers.” How would you like to spend five days staying in a grand old house in the Dorset countryside, taking your choice of improv classes in the company of some of the most lovely and talented people you’ll ever meet? If this sounds good to you, then we invite you to be part of the Maydays Improv Retreat from 18th-22nd September 2018. Whether you’re new to improv, a seasoned veteran, or somewhere in between, you’ll come away from this residential week refreshed, energised and inspired. You can stay in your comfort zone for some classes, and for others you can push yourself into scary new areas that turn out not to be so scary after all. You’ll find new confidence you didn’t know you had. You’ll reawaken your capacity for joy. You’ll discover that you are a genius and a poet and an artist. Description:
The Impropriety Jam workshops are back but this time with a twist..... We honestly think that one of the best ways to learn about improv is to do it in front of an audience and so we are giving you the oppotunity to do just that. How? Well.....The Impropriety Open Jam night! Imagine an open mic crossed with an Improv workshop and sprinkled with love... . If you've been to the closed Jam earlier in the month come along and test out your Improv chops in front of a live wonderful supportive audience. If you are friends of people who have been to our closed Jam, come along and support them as they step out on the stage like theatrical gods. If you just want to come along to see what the fudge is going on then do so too! We will be offering a special reward scheme for Jammers where they can get reward points from people that come along to support them in the audience which they be able to swap for will get free workshops and other cool stuff. A smattering of professional Improprieters will be there to help things no their way and provide back up... so come along... what have you got to lose? By day, this city's streets are bright and orderly. But by night, it is the playground of shysters and crooks, smugglers and thieves. The Mob is about to commit a crime so deadly, so devastating, that it will be down to the audience to tell them what it is Hivemind are a quartet of comic improvisers, freshly graduated from Cambridge and tackling adulthood much like they tackle their stage shows: with charismatic cluelessness. This year, on the first Friday of every month, they will weave a gripping noir thriller out of thin air. The audience provide us with a crime to commit, and we improvise an hour-long crime saga rife with violence, shocking betrayals, and inadequate street lighting, hurtling towards a dramatic denouement that neither you nor we will see coming.
