The Maydays/ Nursery Women's Workshop: We can all be Hedy Lamarr* - with Carla K

Description: A workshop exploring liveness, improv and tools for Zoom theatre.
Women’s workshops are an open and supportive creative space for women and non-binary people of all ages and experience levels.

These workshops run once a month, and they are stand-alone, so you can book one or come along every time. Each workshop is taught by a different teacher and focuses on a specific area of improvisation, and we have some exciting people lined up over the coming months!

*Please note: We are using an inclusive definition of 'woman' and 'female' and we welcome trans women, genderqueer women, and non-binary people.

This month is We Can All Be Hedy Lamarr*: liveness, improv and tools for Zoom theatre - with Carla Keen

Hey, improv. You were doing great, and then a pandemic happened. We’ve had to re-frame things a bit, but you know what, there are some really exciting things you can do really simply with Zoom and the internet.

This workshop uses intermediality (the cross-over between live and recorded media) to explore some fun theatrical tools, exercises and ideas which all have in common the unscripted, spontaneous and open.

Wait a minute…I thought this was a Womxn’s workshop? It is! Consider it a safe space with a gentle hand, seeing what we can do when we are free to admit our anxieties and vulnerability with/around/using technology.

Don’t worry – you only need Zoom and internet access – this is going to be very DIFC (do what you feel comfortable.)

*Hedy Lamarr was a film actor in the 1930s and 40s. She was also a bad-ass inventor.
